Ron Makarem is the founder of Makarem & Associates, a four-attorney law firm in West Los Angeles. He has dedicated his practice to protecting consumer rights and re-establishing the public’s trust in attorneys and the justice system. He has been practicing law since 1995 and has obtained multi-million dollar settlements and judgments in California State and Federal Courts. He is licensed to practice law in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court.
In 2007, Ron was selected as one of the Top 20 Attorneys in California under the age of 40.
In 2010, Ron was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
Among Ron’s outstanding results was a $2.53 million judgment for his clients - victims of an attorney’s unreasonable billing practices and legal malpractice. Ron also represented a reality-television writer in the high-profile case against Donald Trump, NBC, and reality-television producer Mark Burnett regarding the hit-television show “The Apprentice.” Ron took the depositions of both Donald Trump and Mark Burnett. After two years of hard fought litigation against Irell & Manella, the case settled soon after Ron successfully argued against Burnett's motions for summary judgment.
Ron also obtained a $2.6 million settlement in a legal malpractice case against the law firm of Skadden Arps – one of the most prominent law firms in the world. Ron settled the case on the morning of the summary judgment hearings, ending a five year battle with Skadden and their attorneys Keker & Van Nest.
Ron attended the University of Southern California and graduated with honors in 1992. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, cum laude. Ron then attended Pepperdine University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1995.
In 2001, at the young age of 30, he became a partner at the law firm of Ruben & Jones, later Ruben & Makarem, before founding Makarem & Associates. For his entire legal career he has dedicated his practice to litigating on behalf of the consumer and he strives to maintain the public’s respect for the legal profession.
Ron Makarem was selected to be a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Professional Rules and Ethics Committee from 2007-2008. Ron contributes to the profession by staying active in legal associations throughout California. Since 1996, he has been an active member of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He currently serves on the Education Committee of that organization. Ron also is an active member and supporter of Consumer Attorneys of California. He formerly was a member of the National Academy of Elder Abuse Attorneys, American Trial Lawyers Association and Order of the Barristers. In 1997, he obtained his Real Estate Broker’s License. Ron was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. In his free time, he coaches his daughter’s soccer team.
In a recent high profile case, Ron defended Splash News & Picture Agency in a lawsuit brought by a woman claiming her right of privacy was invaded when she was videotaped with Heath Ledger at a SAG Awards after-party.
