Marni is an associate at Makarem & Associates. She joined Ruben & Jones, a predecessor firm of Makarem & Associates, in 2000 as an associate after being admitted to the California Bar. Since joining the firm, Marni has had extensive involvement in many of the firm’s large scale, complex cases. Among the firm’s legal malpractice cases, Marni played an active role in recently settling a case for $1.5 million and also obtaining a judgment in the amount of $2.53 million in an unreasonable billing case which was upheld on appeal.

In 2008, 2009 and 2010, Marni was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.

Marni’s clients are very important to her and part of her practice is dedicated to protecting the elderly and disabled from the abuses of health care providers and insurance companies. Among her achievements in the area of elder abuse litigation is a $750,000 settlement against a nursing home, hospice provider and physician for neglecting an elderly man and causing his death. Marni’s practice also involves litigation against insurance companies for wrongfully terminating disability benefits to its insured who are disabled and unable to work. In a hard fought litigation in federal court, Marni obtained a settlement of $2.15 million for a doctor with a cognitive brain injury whose disability benefits were wrongfully terminated. Marni’s practice also includes termination of disability benefits under group insurance policies governed by ERISA.

Marni was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the University of California at San Diego for two years before transferring to the University of California at Los Angeles. Marni graduated from UCLA in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Minor in Accounting. She then attended Loyola Law School where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2000. While at Loyola, Marni was the recipient of the Bancroft Whitney American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Research and Writing for her achievement of receiving the top grade in her class.

Marni was admitted to the California State Bar and U. S. District Court, Central District, in 2000. She is also admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association and Consumer Attorney Association of Los Angeles. Marni is also a mentor to first year law students at Loyola Law School.
