Biography

After 25 years as a civil litigator, Cameron Stewart brings to Makarem & Associates extensive experience in an array of practice areas including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour class action on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants and personal injury claims.

Cameron's current practice is focused primarily on plaintiff's side labor and employment class action work, helping employees who have been deprived of their legal rights and subjected to unfair employment and wage and hour practices.  Cameron has handled, and is currently handling, large scale class action litigation throughout California and nationwide.  In addition, Cameron has successfully handled all types of employment cases in both state and federal courts, as well as administrative settings before the DFEH, EEOC, DLSE and OSHA.  She has tried numerous cases to successful verdict.

As is the case with many successful people, Cameron had a mentor who influenced her and supported her early in her career.  Cameron got her start as a civil rights and personal injury lawyer at the Law Offices of Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr.  She went on to become the first female managing attorney after the firm expanded into the Cochran Firm in 1997.  It was at the Cochran Firm that Cameron developed an interest in racial and sexual inequality in the work place.

She has an undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University and a law degree from Pepperdine University.  Her involvement in the community includes volunteer work for L.A. Works, CASA of Los Angeles, and CORE.
