Susan Huerta handles labor and employment matters. She has 8 years of experience in employment litigation. Her experience includes representing plaintiffs against large companies in a variety of individual and class action wage and hour matters, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation of all types, and has been instrumental in the litigation of several cases that have achieved verdicts in excess of a million dollars.
Susan is an ardent advocate for the rights of employees in the workplace, particularly in the face of large corporations and employers. Her approach to handling cases is to listen to her client and seek what they have been illegally deprived of in the workplace. Susan has represented clients at all phases of employment disputes, including EDD disputes, DFEH and EEOC claims, and State and Federal civil litigation matters. In the past, Susan has provided pro bono legal assistance to both battered women and unaccompanied immigrant children, representing clients before administrative bodies and Courts alike, such as ICE, the BIA, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Susan genuinely cares about her clients and works hard to obtain justice for them, always keeping their best interests in mind. Her clients describe her as caring, professional, and someone they can trust to fight for them. As a mother of three, she is dedicated and compassionate and understands the difficulties involved for individuals who have suffered from unfair and illegal pay practices and/or have lost their job due to the wrongful acts of their employers.
Susan is admitted to practice before all State Courts of California and Federal Courts of the Central and Northern Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the California Employment Lawyers Association, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, and the Mexican American Bar Association.
Susan is also fluent in Spanish. She joined Makarem & Associates in 2018.
