GM Recalls Additional 718,000 Vehicles

General Motors announced yet another recall of recent model year vehicles including Camaros, Silverados and Cadillacs. GM has recalled about 26 million vehicles this year. The recalls started with an ignition switch problem, which was linked to many crashes and deaths.  GM knew about the problem decades earlier but did nothing about it until this year. They are currently under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Justice Department and Congress. With the rising number of recalls, GM has hired Attorney, Kenneth Fineberg to set up a compensation fund that will address the mounting claims by GM owners whose vehicles have been recalled.  If you believe your vehicle has been recalled, contact Makarem & Associates at 800-610-9646 immediately.

The first round of the yesterday’s recall total 414,333 and include:

  • 2011-2012 Chevy Camaro
  • 2010-2012 Chevrolet Equinox
  • 2010-1012 GMC Terrain
  • 2011-2012 Buik Regal
  • 2011-2012 La Crosse
  • 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX

These vehicles are equipped with power height-adjustable driver or front passenger seat structures. There is a problem with a bolt in the system, which, drivers have been reporting, can fall out causing the seat to move up and down freely.

The 2014 model year cars recalled total 124,008 and include:

  • 2014 Chevrolet Caprice
  • 2014 Chevrolet SS
  • 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck
  • 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS
  • 2014 Cadillac CTS
  • 2014 Cadillac ELR
  • 2013-2014 Buick Encore
  • 2014-2015 GM Sierra Truck

These vehicles were recalled because of an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly.

Another recall includes 120,426 vehicles, as their systems have an electronic glitch. They are:

  • 2011-2013 Buik Regals
  • 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

Also recalled are 57,242 Chevrolet Impalas that are equipped with belt drive power steering. Some vehicles experience reduced or no power steering at start-up or while driving due to a glitch with the electronic control module. With these vehicles the steering abruptly reverts to manual steering mode.

GM also announced small recalls of 2014-2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali vehicles for minor problems.
